Making Tax Digital (MTD) is one of the biggest changes for the accounting profession in decades and will brought in over several years.
The next wave of changes

From April 2026, MTD for Income Tax will come into play for sole trader and property landlords whose turnover is in excess of £50,000 per annum (either separately or in aggregate).

From April 2027, MTD for Income Tax will come into play for sole trader and property landlords whose turnover is in excess of £30,000 per annum (either separately or in aggregate).

From April 2028, MTD for Income Tax will come into play for sole trader and property landlords whose turnover is in excess of £20,000 per annum (either separately or in aggregate).
The date for LLPs, mixed partnerships and companies to be MTD compliant, VAT aside, has yet to be set.
